Dear Blair Families,
Our "Buildings" unit is reaching a cozy new chapter this week as we shift our focus from exterior structures to the textures, shapes, and furniture that make a house a home. Through hands-on exploration of construction materials and interior items, the children are discovering how design comes to life from the inside out. We are pairing these lessons with the heartwarming story A Chair for My Mother, which beautifully illustrates themes of family, hard work, and the comfort of home. In our literacy corner, we are diving into the letter U by crafting colorful umbrellas, helping the students master their letter recognition and fine motor skills all at once. It’s a wonderful week of learning how the spaces we build—and the items we put in them—reflect the people we love.
To strengthen our Family Connection this week, we invite you to take a "Furniture Walk" around your home with your child to identify different shapes—like a rectangular table or a circular rug—and talk about which items are the most special to your family. You might also look for things that start with the letter U, such as an utensil in the kitchen or an undershirt in the laundry. Sharing these everyday moments helps reinforce what we are learning in the classroom and reminds the children that every "building" is filled with unique stories and favorite things.

Nuestra unidad de "Construcciones" llega esta semana a un capítulo muy acogedor, ya que cambiamos nuestro enfoque de las estructuras exteriores a las texturas, formas y muebles que hacen de una casa un hogar. A través de la exploración práctica de materiales de construcción y elementos de interior, los niños están descubriendo cómo el diseño cobra vida desde adentro hacia afuera. Estamos complementando estas lecciones con la conmovedora historia Sillón para mi mamá (A Chair for My Mother), que ilustra maravillosamente los temas de la familia, el trabajo duro y la comodidad del hogar. En nuestro rincón de alfabetización, nos sumergiremos en la letra U creando coloridos paraguas (umbrellas), ayudando a los estudiantes a dominar el reconocimiento de letras y sus habilidades motoras finas al mismo tiempo. Es una semana maravillosa para aprender cómo los espacios que construimos —y los objetos que ponemos en ellos— reflejan a las personas que amamos.
Para fortalecer nuestra Conexión Familiar esta semana, los invitamos a realizar un "Paseo de Muebles" por su hogar con su hijo para identificar diferentes formas —como una mesa rectangular o una alfombra circular— y platicar sobre qué objetos son los más especiales para su familia. También pueden buscar cosas que comiencen con la letra U, como un utensilio en la cocina o una prenda de ropa unica. Compartir estos momentos cotidianos ayuda a reforzar lo que estamos aprendiendo en el salón de clases y les recuerda a los niños que cada "edificio" está lleno de historias únicas y cosas favoritas.
